Environment - My View
To my frustration, the world spends more than 1.5 trillion dollars each year on the military (https://www.globalissues.org/article/75/world-military-spending), and devote very little resources to environmtal protection and renewable energy. Even devoting 10% of the world's industrial capacity into the production of renewable energy technologies and infrastructures can make a big difference in our fight against global warming! The best weapon against terrorism and other military threats is to eradicate global poverty and create millions of productive jobs around the world, not high-tech military weapons. Expand the use of renewable energy can create millions of jobs and reduce global poverty at the same time, and in the process help slowing down the progression of global warming.
Of course, renewable energy is not the only solution towards global warming. Governments must institute policies and incentives to encourage citizens and industries to consume less energy, and do everything they can to protect all the existing rainforests. at the same time, people should eat more local produce instead of produce from far away places - for example, food that requires 2000 miles of travel by trucks emits a lot of CO2, and food produced near the city of one's residence emits very little CO2.
There are countless measures this world can take in the fight against global warming. The fight against global warming starts with providing environmental education to the public, so they have the knowledge to do their part in reducing carbon emissions. There is no panacea against global warming, and everyone must take responsibilities as well as small sacrifices on lifestyles (for example, watch less TV or reduce meat consumption) in order for us to win the war against global warming.
